At Pender’s Renaissance Studio and Gallery

Surely there are no Pender residents  with a more interesting story about how they ended up here than Jan and Milada Huk, natives of what is now the Czech Republic.  If one asks, they can describe what life was like there before the Soviet Union and the Eastern bloc fell.  But that was long ago.  Today, numerous life chapters later, they run the Renaissance Gallery and Studio, where Jan is one of the world’s premier art restorers and Milada is an equally skilled and internationally known jewelry designer.  Their collection of art, furniture, jewelry, rugs, antiques and crystal is visually stunning, and so surprising to find perched above a narrow two lane road on Pender Island.  Jan, with a twinkle in his eye, can regale you with the stories behind the objects in their collection.
